Press Release

Spokesperson: Mr. Dinesh Jain, CEO, Zee Turner

Q.1. Even in this year of recession, Zee Turner increased business by almost 25%. How did you retain employees and keep them motivated during this difficult period?

Ans. Hardwork has never killed anyone!! Jokes apart, the year 08-09 was indeed a challenging year for all of us. But, what really kept the team going with the same enthusiasm and business growth was the belief that the challenge was external and short term. We were certain to come back faster and stronger and that's what we did.

It's also about leadership across levels. The recessionary phase has been a true test of leadership - being able to shine the light that teams can see and follow. Sometimes, that's all that employees look for - a sign from their leaders that there is a plan, we are on track and that together we will come out stronger.

Q.2. Did recession affect the hiring plans of your company?

Ans. Recruitment is always about having the right people and the talent you need to deliver on the business plan. Wherever we needed this talent, we have gone out and recruited. Yes, we adapted to the environment, but were also conscious of the fact that a difficult business environment necessitates, more than ever, an acute focus on what quality of talent you have and where you need to strengthen. Execution takes centre stage in such times.

We have been fortunate that steps taken by us have stood the test of time.

Q.3. Do you plan to recruit in the next 3 - 6 months? What level and functions are you looking to hire at?

Ans. It is business as usual as far hiring is concerned. However, we are working towards a plan which is focused on building the strengths of the employees further with various training modules to cater to our growth plans. This would also help in enhancing the employee's individual professional skills.

Q.4. Can you tell us about your recruitment process and the key skills/qualities you look at in a candidate?

Ans. I would say skills vary from one profile to another - we look for skills that fit that particular profile. What doesn't change as the basic criteria for us to consider a candidate is the attitude - we call it the 'attitude of success' and a fundamental adaptability to the new industry/ environment.

Q.5. What are the key employee benefit programs and initiatives of your company?

Ans. The biggest brand in an exciting industry is the biggest benefit of being in Zee Turner. Our tangible employee benefits include fringe benefits and various perquisites. Some of these are Group insurance (health, life etc.), Retirement benefits, ESOP, Doctor on Premise, Special Discount offers at various outlets, Financial Counseling, Library, CBT, Corporate Membership to British Council and many more.

Q.6. How would you define the work culture of Zee Turner?

Ans. We are an "efficiency oriented" company. What makes the culture extremely amicable is open access and transparency inherent to our system. At Zee turner, we believe in nurturing talent in a disciplined environment. Our endeavour to build an organizational culture is characterized by the following guiding principles:

Q.7. What are your 2010 expansion plans?

Ans. Leaders need to go beyond current leadership. However, building further to our no. 1 position and challenge ourselves further, our key focus will be portfolio management & expansion to maximize returns. Digital business will drive the growth story in 2010 and certainly this will be a brighter year for the industry growth too.
